Only subpar, wagie cuck devs use VSCode, real developers use Emacs.
Emacs is the best editor

And why do they use emacs? Convince me to switch from neovim
why would you post this?
>he fell for the meme
I learned vim first. It does what I want. I don't like change.
>tfw you realize Emacs is the epitome of the unix philosophy
It's over... I cant go back anymore.
Vim as an ide is like using a screwdriver to build a building. Sure it'll work, and sure it may seem fast, but why would you use that to get the job done? When I write code, I want everything related to writing, compiling, testing, etc to be integrated into my environment, Emacs is the only editor where I have been able to do this for every language that I need to edit, while still maintaining that 'vim-like' feel, of key-binding manoeuvring.
Emacs Lisp is a real programming language unlike Vim Script, so you can truly customize Emacs if you're into tinkering, I often write functions that do decently complex operations which I could never do in Vim script/Lua.
Chicked.
VSCucks be seething.

cope?
I can't find how to enable lua and I can't be bothered. I just can't imagine what would make emacs better than neovim and nobody can explain it. They just say vague stuff like emacs is an operating system or something.
M-x doctor
Also I'm almost certain you're an AI
uh...
just open a new terminal?? and uh.. cd. into the dir.
um. this isn't hard.
You should ask about these things in /emg/ or even just read the documentation yourself.
The first example of a language module is this:
;; To comment something out, you insert at least one semicolon before it and the
;; Emacs Lisp interpreter will ignore everything until the end of the line.
(doom! :lang
python ; this module is not commented, therefore enabled
;;javascript ; this module is commented out, therefore disabled
;;lua ; this module is disabled
ruby ; this module is enabled
php) ; this module is enabled
So you want to do:
(doom! :lang
lua)
And any others you want.

Next time maybe don't be such a retard.
I don't use doom, I never have, and even I can figure this shit out in like 30 seconds.
I need an editor that works out of the box (or nearly), is as feature complete (or nearly) and is native (no electron shit) as VS Code. I hate how soulless and soul-destroying VS Code and Microsoft products in general are, but it IS the superior editor choice at this time.
I don't like how emacs, vim and derivates feel like they are going to fall apart at any moment, like the arch of editors. The rest are VS Code wannabes that fail short due to not having a multinational demiurgic corporation behind them, and native editors that are too simple or intended for quick edits and nothing else.
I want a native, well designed VS Code.
I also don't like that emacs assumes it's the 70s for all its computing and UX paradigms. It's retarded and its users are fucking posers.
>Emacs
>Fall apart
>the most stable API of all editors in existence
Please, just go back to VSCode and accept you are not fit for independent thought.
>the cursor must follow the viewport as you scroll using the mousewheel because we're on a tty
>why would you use your mouse in the first place
It is you who fell for a meme. You are not fit for independent thought. You are an edgy contrarian.
Go fuck yourself.
What are you talking about schizoid? if you want an editor like VSCode just use VSCode you stupid nigger.
>if I don't know own how to use a tool then that tool is bad
You can compile and run your code from vim, number one. I'd expect a good first officer to know that. Once when dealing with the Telarian ambassador on Thetarox 4 I has quite the social fauxpaux by being a braindead nigger who doesn't know how to use vim like you.
Emacs doesn't even live up to its own promises from the 90s. Stallman envisioned a rich text editor that could simultaneously beat MS Word and all code editors at their own game. What we have is a boring, useless piece of shit that's subpar for any serious programming that requires dozens of lines of custom config to do 10% of what any random modern editor can do out of the box. I feel sorry for anyone using it. I've seen how its proponents work; it's always tedious, slow, and unproductive, compared to the tools a stock VS Code gives you. Cope seethe and dilate.
