Is tech really a meritocracy?
Is tech really a meritocracy?
Hahahahaha
Ask these guys
no human system is without hierarchy.
It seems to me that it's merited based on how gay you are. If you reject masculinity and get HRT to suck the ladycocks of your superiors then you'll get on top.
I'd say it is mostly so, but that doesn't mean it is a comfy area. Considering the current capitalist system we live in of course.
Mostly because there is huge positive bias if you are a women (abundant beta males desperate for attention), medium positive bias if you are a nigger or other "minority". Those biases are amplified by a factor of 1000x on large corporations.
Most of the times these biases aren't very relevant.
But the problem with "meritocracy" is that this is an area filled with no life nerds. They will spend literally every single fucking waking hour studying. They will produce a hundred times more than you will, and if you hope to compete with them you will have to sacrifice all other aspects of your life.
You will be measured against them, and feel like a fake if you aren't a genius that devotes his life to work. Even if these turbo-autists are still relatively few in your area, they will be the measuring stick you will be compared to.
On less "meritocratic" areas you can do less and earn more money/status/power. Of course I'm considering you are in the top ~2%, if you aim to be a midwit tech is pretty good for now.
It really should be. A few companies do there best like Red Hat to create a true meritocracy.
Tech is monarchy. Everything is inherited.
uwu
Yeah, you can still live quite comfortably even as a slacker working in tech. It won't last forever though, so when it crashes tons of people will leave the industry for good.
what anime is this from
im biggest in tecj
tech is most meritocracy field basically
think why pajeet & chink, and nerd flooding this field
they(Bigtech) want IQ 180, autistic savant who can code 18 hours/day
you are just mad about hardorking man with talent
No, next question, also meritocracies are shitholes
lmao no, it's based on pure luck and your parents, nothing else, not even hard work.
be wary of successful people with survivorship biaises, many people work more than daddy musk and will never ever have 0.000000000001% of his wealth.
be at the right place at the right time and suck the righ dicks, that's all that matter in western civilization.
This is what autists think, but those people aren't being promoted because they are virtue signalling or whatever. They're being promoted because they understand basic social interaction and you don't.
And what is wrong with a meritocracy? Are we to give lazy coloreds jobs simply because?
>Is tech really a meritocracy?
Not even slight.
If by "merit" you mean "born into a rich family" then yes, tech is a meritocracy.
>think why pajeet & chink, and nerd flooding this field
EVERY Indian is studying engineering/tech because they have no other options. Poor people are instilled at a young age to aim for the highest jobs possible, and tech happens to be the most accessible to them. It has nothing to do with being smart.
I would say it's more a meritocracy than other high paid white collar work.
Where else can I get 6 figures remotely by lying about the nature of my experience? I do the job well, I'm an asset to the team, I'm very good at communicating for being autistic, and it allows me to do what I'm good at, slack off during work hours some, and turn it the fuck off and leave at the end of the day.
People that whine about the work are faggots that have never done manual labor, the keys are WFH and Romanian deadlifts at LEAST for fitness, assuming you get your 10k steps in.
The merit was in bullshitting the HR wordfilter and getting the right technical interview. The job I was just leet enough to be good at
i suppose, to an extent. one could theoretically learn computer science without actually touching a computer. that said, would they be better off than someone who had the opportunity to? im not sure. in the end its an issue of feminism, and trying to get everyone to parity where its not just who you know or what you have or really even what you know necessarily.
