Have any of you swapped out back squats for leg press? Can I still make gains?

you're not worthy of an answer, pussy.

Why do people think you're more masculine just because you back squat. It's just an exercise.

Imagine calling someone a pussy for not wanting to do lateral raises or curls. That's how retarded you sound.

You are more masculine if you squat than you would be if you didn't. Because they're difficult. That said, leg press and hamstring curls are more conducive to hypertrophy. Squats are probably the best form of cardio though.

What kind of pussy doesnt do lateral raises and curls?

Why don’t you back squat? Unless you have actually bad knees from injury there really isn’t any reason not to. Also inb4 “long femurs” argument I’m 6’3 and can ATG.

Just did recently because my back can't handle squatting. Constantly tweaking it. Don't see any reason as to why it shouldnt be a good replacement movement, just a bit shorter ROM on most leg presses. No reason to squat if you're training for hypertrophy

Long femurs is a retard argument but so is your response. It's the relative lengths of your torso, femurs and shanks that matter. I.e. if you have a short torso, long femurs, and short shanks it's going to be impossible without reasonably good dorsiflexion.

The thing about knees is also retarded. Squats improve knees. Almost no one has issues with a knees back lowbar squat.

Yep I have weird proportions so squatting is awkward. I've worked up to 3 plate and they've don't little for my quads.

For me, its herniated disc. If I squat even 1 plate, there's numbness in my right thight for at least 2 weeks.

Just get lifting shoes. I have this exact body type short torso, long femur, and short shanks and I just use lifting shoes and do a lot of hip mobility.

lol
lmao even

Lmfao, no. What the fuck is wrong with people on this board

Leg presses and hamstring curls isolate the muscles more and can be done to actual failure. Squats for 20 reps every week with just a little more weight will make your heart straight up evolve if you can handle it. I guess my problem is that I've been lifting and playing sports for 20 years and I'm trying to talk about it on an anime forum for some reason.

Just do all three on leg day , also no one cares about D3 tennis shut the fuck up

I don't like leg press, I think it does nothing based off years of anecdotal evidence. I like hack squats more than back squats and way more than front squats. Best back squat was 405lb high bar at 180lb (gym PR could have cut and gotten a better Wilks) but then I just got tired of the knee and hip issues.

Leg press is more dangerous for the lower back than squats

I dropped squats because I can't risk going from 6'2 to 6'1 or shorter

I dropped squats because I got tired of waiting for the racks at my gym to open up so I do a mix of both leg press and hack squat machine.

back squats are only good when you have the biomechanics to go atg high bar, otherwise you end up doing half a squat and half a good morning like some retarded powershitter. in that case, seek the leg press

The only people squatting in my gym are the elderly and the pawgs.
Loads of people Leg Press or hack squat though, so think of this what you will.

Yeah, no reason why you couldn't. It really depends on what your goals are. If they're purely physique based then sure. If you want to squat good then you're probably going to have to squat.

You need to do hamstring work anyways, squatting for your hamstrings is retarded. If your goal is to purely bigger quads then stabilized and loaded knee extension is ideal
