The Italian Question

If carbs = le bad, how come shitalians are not as fat as americans? Is there more to the italian diet than just gabagool? What is the real deal with these people?

20% national obesity compared to 35% national obesity is a good improvement, but it's not exactly night and day role model material.
South Korea and Japan manage sub-5%.

Yeah but those are asians you're comparing with. Italians and americans have closer builds. Why are these pastafreaks not blowing up?

Actual italians just eat the mediteranian diet. ie. fish/chicken and salad.

Its only western countries where everyone has huge servings of pasta loaded with flavour enhancers and with sugar and butter filled sauces.

Authentic pasta usually just has a tiny bit of olive oil on it. Maybe a bit of crushed tomatoes stirred through.

>bolognese
>carbonara
>any of the various types of proper Italian lasagna
>northern italian pastas filled with cream
imagine not knowing italian food AND using reddit spacing

yes there are plenty of fat italians, what a waste of a fucking thread

It's about portion size, not the actual food. Americans simply eat a fuckton more volume than the pasta people

You know italy is a western country right?

These are the threads that make you think. Could it be the servings are smaller? Italibros what do you have for breakfast and lunch? American Italians I see on tv are always stuffing their face.

youre an idiot if you think they eat that every day and waht you get in america is nothing like what they get in italy.

American food is so much heavier and more dense. Its not even comparable.

America has extremely loose laws around the quality of its food and the prevalence of high fructose corn syrup has resulted in an obesity epidemic. Said syrup is also banned in Europe.

Because carbs aren't Le bad

see There's not a huge difference in food quality that I noticed (unless you're considering poor-tier restaurants like olive garden, in which case fair), but portion sizes at even fancy US italian restaurants are just absurdly large (and add baskets of bread, etc)

>mediterranean diet
>fish chicken and salad
Can we please range ban Americans?

1 in 5 people is obese what the fuck are you talking about man? These spitalians are blowing up like popcorn in a microwave, come on now…

got stats on total meals (including snacks) each side has through-out the day? more meals spread out on a given day = more insulin resistance

Pasta serves a purpose of entrée so you get just a small portion of it before the main course which is typically meat/fish, salad and maybe something else on the side. You can enjoy pasta twice a week but keep the servings small and you are ok.

The fatties in Italy are the boomers, unlike Americans where theyvare all fat from child. Portion sizes are different, as is food quality and ingredients. Additionally, there is intense pressure on people to be thin (not fit), and this then manifests in food choices. They also drink less. Being too drunk is seen as disgusting unlike murrica.

Because Americans eat more carbs you fucking retard. We consume carbs when we drink our 44oz coca colas and eat our ice cream fudge sundaes.

It's not like we aren't eating a fuck ton of pasta and other refined carbs too. This thread is based on the idea that Italians eat more carbs than the average American and it's laughable.

quantity. you can lose weight on mcdonalds if you eat only one burger a day.
