Go heavier (1-5 reps) with BB OHP. Save the higher quality, higher reps for DB press.

You can cheat out more rom and internal rotation of the tricep, but heavy-seated dumbells is just a bad idea or bodybuilder routine.

Why?

Anecdotally I think there's lower injury risk (limited rom, not awkward to kick the dumbbells into position, can just rerack after you're done instead of yeeting them onto the ground). Easier to progressively overload with too IMO, both for the safety reasons and since it's not an isolateral movement. And more carryover to bench

I tore my labrum doing military shoulder press with 60lbs in each hand.

In retrospect that was fucking retarded bc I could have done it on a light incline and never deal with that pain.

Shit folded my arm like a lawn chair. Never again.

I agree

If done with endurance strength in mind (think military press) or seated for hypertrophy, yeah, they are great exercise.

I really like them and find them preferable to BB press. I'd say pick one or the other for a workout due to safety reasons. I've tried to do DB after BB press and it feels more unstable than usual.

I like to do db press if the OHP racks are being hogged by people squatting. It's pretty good but not as good as OHP
