>SPECIALIZATION IS FOR INSECTS! >no, don't stretch >don't do cardio >only do these 5 compound lifts, nothing else >only train for strength >stop wasting time practising your oly lifts, just bring your deadlift up >never do more than 5 reps >don't use machines, only barbells >no kettlebells >no dumbbells >no trapbars >don't do variations on your lifts, just bring the weight up >just get as strong as possible >doesn't matter how shit you look >doesn't matter how obese you become

m8 what the fuck. where's the proof that this is rip

Compare the writing to that in Starting strength

Hi, Mark
Adam Murphy
Tell me why focusing on those 5 lifts while doing some ab work on your days off is in any way bad?

I haven't ready anything of Rippletit's except for the template out of Starting Strength. That program was great for adding muscle to a DYEL skelly body, but nobody should be doing it for more than about 90 days, tops, or you'll end up like pic related.
From what I've seen that was Rippletit's specialization for a long time on the internet and everyone rec'd him for it, including this place not too long ago. These days other programs like 5/3/1 and greyskull seem to be more popular for dyels. Rip is written off as outdated and dogmatic. Shit like the Texas Method which is meant for intermediates has always been very controversial outside of the starting strength forums.

SS was the first noob routine out there, it wasn’t until Mehdi made a ripoff of it (Stronglifts 5x5) that it had any competition. The problem with both of these routines is how lower body centric they are when 9/10 gym noobs don’t care about legs. I agree that Greyskull and 5/3/1 are the popular routines now (or at least they were last time I checked Reddit /r/weightroom back in 2018) but I think Greyskull at least deserves to be popular. It’s the same 3x5+ scheme as Starting Strength but without the phase I/II/III bullshit and it drops the squat frequency to be a more balanced routine
Wyatt Garcia
The thing is, I'm running SS at the moment and I'm a skelly, started 155lbs now 160lbs 2 months in.
When do you think I should switch to greyskull or something else? Can I make the switch now?
Easton Green
Also the AMRAP in greyskull really puts me off, if I was to switch I would still follow linear 3x5 progression
Brandon Richardson
>some ab work on off days the compounds already train abs
Jaxon Morgan
There isn't that much difference between SS and Greyskull [they're both noob strength programs] so you can switch pretty much whenever.
I've added weighted planks to the end of one my workout days and have had some success with it. The compound lifts do work the abs, but it doesn't hurt to zap them every once in a while.
Michael Nelson
His advice for squat and deadlift form is unironically very good. Really helped me at least.
Jackson Cox
The idea that compounds effectively hit your abs has been proven false for years now.
