Kinda. It's not all dark and bleak. That's for sure. But still, there are some moments that are kinda dark. Maybe not in the same vein as Dead Space or Souls games. And it's not trying to be. We probably won't get a truly gritty Nintendo game, but there will always be little details. Small things that make you realise everything isn't sunshine and rainbows in Nintendo games.

I think 'dark' in main nintendo games is best explained with something like Ocarina of Time where its this bright heroic adventure but then there's suddenly skulls and blood and kinda fucked up implications, or Majoras Mask and just that whole game in general. They're not dark dark, but if you were 1.) a kid at the time and 2.) contrast it with everything else they put out, it does seem 'dark'.

If this were true it's much more acceptable than something like Goyd of War or Trans of Us being called "deep"
