I've not even once learned the Jecht Shot. The boat cutscene is always so confusing,since to me it's always already over before I feel I should start pressing buttons and I've always won the blitzball match. I don't even hide behind the goalkeeper. The most exciting match I've had was a 3 -2 victory.
Blitzball in general fucking sucks though.

I've looked up guides and they all say score a goal as soon as possible, then AFK behind your net with the ball as the AI can't go there. Doesn't help there are 500 tutorials in a long list

Sure, but there's no Start! or Tidus getting ready animation, so since I play FFX so rarely my mind registers it as a preview, now you go thing each time and then it's over.

You can still win it regardless. I know it's been a while but if I recall you can't even put the Jecht Shot on until the 2nd half right? You also only get the first half of the second half to even score before Wakka comes back on.
