How did they go from a masterpiece like KH1 to this?
Three hour long tutorial
Kh1 was designed as an RPG/platformer hybrid with free movement, while kh2 is a hack and slash with rpg mechanics.
>3 hour long tutorial.
Sure if you suck and watch cutscenes.
>batshit insane story
>There's a bunch of soulless copies running around and you got to stop them killing everyone to get a soul
How is that batshit crazy? KH2 story is easy to understand
The Roxas intro was awesome
I love the KH games but in hindsight they're all pretty awful.
I don't get why people struggle to understand KH's story.
The games deliver it in a reasonably accessible manner, the mistakes you can make is trying to get a 45 to 2 hour summary of a 20 year on going story, where the games have over 100 hours of story at least, combined.
If you struggle with KH's story, it's simply because you jumped around and didn't play the games in order and digested the story as was given.
Roxas' intro is unironically the peak of the series from a tonal and narrative perspective.
I couldn't agree more, the "looks like my summer vacation is over" line gets me everytime. The first time playing it all those years ago I felt disgusted when I had to use Sora, it felt like I made the wrong choice.
why is it that the best kh game make other kh fangirls seethe so much?
Completely true but also not a high bar to pass. Its only real competitions are Hollow Bastion in KH1 and the ending of 358/2.
>inb4 "but what about BbS or KH3?"
what ABOUT BbS and KH3?
Just skip the cutscenes, the Roxas segment becomes like 20 minutes.
Drive forms all have easy methods for leveling that are mostly unlocked early into having the forms. Even without a guide, it's not hard to figure things like the Agrabah mushroom out for Limit and Valor, or Mickey's room in Timeless for Wisdom.
It's so good that it is all over the place while it happens yet has little to do with the actual story of KH2.
Because the time it takes for anyone to "understand" Kingdom Hearts story you could as well learn a new language, and even wasting all that time you still don't get a cohesive narrative theme beyond a very flimsy "LIGHT AND DARK FIGHT" to tie in everything you experienced. It's not "hard to understand", it's just convoluted and unfocused.
>Learn the story naturally while playing the games is le bad.
Sounds like a skill issue.
There's nothing to "learn". I just described the entire story in all caps. Everything else is pointless fluff.
Fundamental skill issue
Despite what your parents told you, "autism" isn't a skill.
>press triangle to awesome combat
Filtered faggot who got destroyed by Level 1 Critical Mode so he played on Normal lmfao
>cringiest and most batshit insane story
Not even in top 5 worst KH stories
>The Roxas intro was awesome
It's the only time the story was ever good in KH2.
Too bad it's revealed that Roxas is in a simulation and all that shit was fake but somehow the real versions of HPO kinda remember him.
Fuck you Nomura and Nojima, fucking hacks.
Too bad that Roxas' friendship with HPO was all fake because he was in a simulation.
This was the only believable friendship in the entire series too(unlike shonenshit like garbage like Sora/Donald/Goofy, Sora/Riku/Kairi, Terra/Ventus/Aqua, Roxas/Axel/Xion etc.)
Also loved the parts with Namine and how she promised she would meet Roxas back and then we have her in KH3 with Riku because they didn't give a shit about the plot and made that 358 Days garbage.
We even have Roxas and Namine finally meeting again at the end of KH2 when Sora and Kairi reunite but they had to fuck the lore with all that 358/2 Days and BBS garbage and ruin the few good things KH2's story had going for it.
