I just can't finish this game and it starts to feel like a chore instead of gaming.

OP here, wrong image
Really? This is one of my all time favorite games, so I can't emphatize. What's your team? Party banter can make or break your run.
>What's your team? Party banter can make or break your run.
Not OP but I agree. The NPCs are so fucking terrible for the most part. Restarting with a fully custom party made the game 1000x better.
Going to play the two games for the first time, is there any builds that should be avoided or one that stands out?
In what way? Gameplay? That's more or less true, but you can solo the game with some crazy Kensai/Mage build and just keep them for the dialogue.
>Restarting with a fully custom party made the game 1000x better.
Min-maxed characters with inconsequential alignment, zero party banter and no comments on anything?
Why even play the game?
I've heard Monk builds in 1 are dogshit. magic builds are fun but start out very squishy as they do.
Paladin with 2h sword focus is a newbie friendly class that is still viable in the toughest parts of the game. You can also make unkillable hunter/priest with decent damage. Don't play a pure fighter. It's a strong but a very boring class.
Play Fighter or Berserker or even Dwarven Defender get dual Wielding to max then either Flays, Axes or War Hammers. You get a Age of flails that does almost ever element damage in the game in second one.
Thanks guys, and i have the EE versions so is there any mods i should grab before i start?
No time limits. This is means if you dont do Party member quest in 10 days they leave and you cant get them back
That's not our problem, that's your problem, ADHD child.
I'm convinced BG1 was only good by accident. Nobody knew what they were doing and didn't have the "design" experience to really fuck it up. BG2 removes all the good parts and adds JRPG crap and wizard autism.

>magic builds are fun but start out very squishy as they do.
That's why I almost always start with fighter or Kensai. Even 3 levels are a great help. Shame that exp from learning scrolls is so low in BG1.
If you want some extra challenge then SCS or ascension. NPC project for the BG1 if you want some party banter. Be warned though, it's not canon and fanfiction tier at times.
The combat sucks. Fuck this game.
same but it only gets to me in ToB
>You have 10 days time to complete a quest.
>Okay lets go, but first lets use 2 days first to free Coppernet Slaves so we get a solid HQ
>2 days later
>Ok ready lets go
>Go to destination
>Get Ambush where you have to save the harper
>Ok an other time limited quest i guess we take him back there
>Ok go to docks
>Start immediately an other Timer Locked Quest by entering there
>m'kay
>Take the harper to its place
>Immediately an other 10 day timer quest
>Ok
>About to leave the docks
>Some kid comes talk to you about hes home having murders
>An other 10 day timer quest
>Party member gets pissy because its already day 5 and were still not in the tomb getting hes book back
>Ok lets try get that book
>Quest Failed you have lost Party member because you were not quick enough to do the first initial timer quest
Jesus fucking Christ. No wonder they killed off timed quests from Gaming. I Know Fallout 1 had similar thing with its Main Quest but there it made a little bit more sense.
It's your fault getting distracted.
you can't get the harper ambush traveling from the slums to temple or graveyard
ToB is genuinely a garbage expansion
iwd 2 is the real chore. even the devs admit they ran out of ideas and just added loads of tedious trash to pad the game out.
You can in EE.
>You have 10 days time to complete a quest.
OK, I guess
>Get Ambush where you have to save the harper
OK, but you only lose a small amount of XP for doing it slow
>Start immediately an other Timer Locked Quest by entering there
No such quest
>Immediately an other 10 day timer quest
Which?
>Some kid comes talk to you about hes home having murders
>An other 10 day timer quest
Not a timed quest
But I agree timed quests are dumb
Umar Hills is timed for Minsc and Renor Bloodscalp is timed for Yoshijimbo.
You just have to talk to Renal, and Yoshimo says as much
Same with Minsc although I agree it's not clear
The rest of my "criticism" remains
It's a shame really. The prologue is great, full of the coolest flavor dialogues. And the rest is pretty much IWD but less fun.
