Do you know of any good modern linear platformers (2D/3D)? I notice most platformer games are metroidvanias, roguelikes, collect-a-thons, etc these days.
Linear Platformers
Sonic Mania
Besides the ones you posted?
(I have not played them) but isn't Blue Fire or Kaze or any of those other wanna be Marios rec'd when somebody asks?
yookay laylee impossible lair is pretty good.
weirdly enough that marsupilami game isn't too bad but certainly not worth the asking price
Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams
Ayo the Clown and the sequel to Yooka Laylee are also solid.
Rayman Legends is insanely good, play that first if you haven’t.
Other great 2d ones are Celeste and Super Meat Boy.
3d linear platformers seem limited these days. Definitely play Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 if you haven’t.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which just came out. It's a must have for anyone who likes these kind of games
Kirby and the Forgotten Land (out today!)
Sonic Mania
Celeste
Mega Man 11
it's collect a thong. there's literally no other thing to do than collect things
>it's collect a thong
...oh?
Super Cloudbuilt is fantastic but it's currently delisted because of some kind of publishing issue.
Yooka Laylee is like DK:TF 2
Dustforce
Celeste
The end is nigh
super meat boy
Finally, the collectible we've been waiting all along
Sisqobros...we're going home (to Unleash the Dragon).
the newer kirby games, like return to dreamland onward and some older ones but you get a lot more metroidvania elements and stuff
Curse of the Moon 1 & 2 are Classic Castlevania styled games, and they are damn good ones. They are to the point, like the older Castlevanias. Not a Metroidvania like Ritual of the Night.
Sonic Generations, there are separate pathways in some levels but they always lead to the same place. You're essentially playing a hot wheels track lol
By that logic 3D World is too you dumbass. It has the same tier of collectibles as it. You still choose levels on a map and go from beginning to end unlike a real collectathon.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
DeadCore
A Hat in Time (most levels are pretty linear)
