Modern Romans?

Which region of Italy would the closest descendants of the Romans reside?
One of the Northern regions? Or still Lazio?

I'm ruling out terronistan because an Abo is probably closer to a Roman than a shitscilian or niggerpolitan.

I vaugely remember some Italians saying terroni shat up Rome and thus it might not be the case anymore.

maybe on the appennini in Lazio, Umbria.. you want to look for isolated places
Sardina too may be good
