i rarely see window units here...most windows aren't vertical open in europe like they are in burgerland so they wouldn't work here. there is something so kino in a white trash way about freezing your balls off next to the window AC on a hot summer day.

open your window...it slides up correct? most in europe open two ways...outward or inward like a door, or they crack open slightly on the diagonal. with any AC you need to have some level of drainage which is why those hang out the window

they make casement (horizontal window) ac units too, and theres kits to adapt regular ac units.

It's not primarily for drainage, indoor portable units with the exhaust hose have an internal tank to empty intermittently. The reason for having the hot side outside is so the hot side is outside. Indoor portable units are trash, the 2 hose units are slightly better trash, but the idea of having the hot side inside is retarded. You are blowing room air across the hot side (condenser), room air you just cooled, to heat up the air and blow it outside, thus creating a vacuum and pulling in more hot outside are into your home through all the gaps, vents, and cracks. Another smaller benefit to having a non-retarded AC is it's slightly quieter inside with some of the noisy parts outside behind insulation.

At least around here they don't even sell them anywhere, and the ones they do sell are these retarded portable contraptions, picrel. I have no issue with the heat, but I do hate having to deal with flies and moths constantly coming inside from having the windows open.
