but after the renaissance and early modern period, things became a lot more static, the random borders that had resulted from the chaos of kingdoms collapsing and conquest was kind of "frozen" in time, most states enforced a single language accross their entire realm, and after the enlightenment, around the 19th-20th century, you had the "age of nationalism", where either normies or glownigger agitators would work to create social strife and political agitations to create nations in their state's intrest
for example at the fall of rome, all of the western roman empire could have been one country, everyone spoke about the same language, everyone was the same race etc

there's only 3 countries with american bases, england spain and germany, 2 of them have them by choice, germany is forced to have those bases in their territory, and also has like 50 american bases while spain has 1 and england 3
