Yes. Because it required developing better medical, computer, and materials technologies to do it

i would argue that video game demand did that more lol

earth observation satellites are on the verge of ending conventional war. it may be hard to see from the hard physics side of things, but from the military domain, space has revolutionized warfare (ICBMs and beyond) in a way which is very likely to one day lead to global pacification (end of war, one way or the other).

keep in mind that space is the only infinite resource in the universe (more being made every moment). it is excellent for energy radiation and spreading out, and will ultimately be the source of human civilization's energy and industry (optimistic scenario).

it is also a possible behavioral sink on a civilizational scale--after all, what purpose is there in life if our species will forever remain bound to earth by gravity/dV? should we not rather prefer to use our tools to build better tools and see what might be possible instead of just sitting around waiting for the sun to explode?

Agriculture, navigation, mathematics to name a few

>What has boat travel across the ocean ever accomplished
>its a waste of money and time
>get fucked by spic and anglo sperg fucking around with boat and indeginous people on undeveloped land

We're expanding our reach user. So the question is have we to offer anything special to the universe? What say you?

I'm convinced it's used for primarily by the government for money laundering.
