the bigger issue with socialized systems is the idea that just giving people money will fix things. it doesn't. welfare should be seen as a temporary fix, something to keep you afloat until you can sustain yourself. people shouldn't just be given free healthcare, they should be helped if they can't pay for it and "in the mean time, here's how you can improve your health so you don't have to pay for it anymore!"
and if they don't follow the rules, guess what? we're not helping you pay.
