Ukraine has impressive anti-tank defence, but sucks at anti-air

If anyone knows anything about weapons here, can you explain why Ukraine is so effective against Russians tanks with "NLAW FGM-148 Javelin" and "Bayraktar TB2 drone" systems, but completely fails against aviation with "FIM-92 Stinger". Apparently both are latest generation weapons and are were provided in large numbers to Ukraine. But Ukraine keeps whining about "no fly zone" and gets absolutely demolished by Russian aviation. At the same time they're providing a real fight against ground troops, especially tanks and APCs.

flat terrain makes airborne reconnaissance easy

you can literally down helicopters just fine with a javelin btw, you just dont use top attack mode since the rotor blade confuses the missile

>NATO will come to help any day now
>They promised during Budapest Memorandum
lol, trusting nato

Well helicopters are only used for airborne drops. I think it's those pesky planes that are giving them the most troubles.

Well sure, some lessons learned there. But we have literally NATO bases on our land, I think (hope, pray) they won't dare...

They have S300 systems. It's primarily those systems why the Russians still don't have air superiority in a large part of Ukraine

NATO didn't help the Crimeans... Russia fighting Nato = WW3. Therefore, NATO will never do anything...

Do you expect the hohols and nato admit that they conducted illegal biological weapons industries in Ukraine? Do you expect Ukraine and nato countries to make compromises.
You will be regionalized.

since 2014 you have had instructors and us commanders entering ukraine and preparing for this very moment.

ukraine/crimea is not in nato you dumb fuck

Because the helicopter have a proximity radar that can detect the missile attack before the missile even fired and once the missile is flying it will warn the pilot of the direction the attack came from. In other instances it will even identify the missile and take counter measures

And no one thought to put those on tanks?

Crimea was Russian all along. Aren't you asking yourself why Crimea did not resist at all? Idiot

Well sure, but looks like they didn't prepare them enough. It's total slaughter on both sides. And they're losing air quite badly.

Crimea is 97% russians and are strongly PRO WAR...

I thought Ukrainian anti air was being bolstered by US/NATO radar planes flying along the western border.

These planes scan the sky for Russian aircraft, then forward that targeting data to Ukrainian ground batteries. The Ukrainians switch on their AA radar, lock, fire, then turn off and scoot.

The Russians therefore can't easily locate and destroy the Ukrainian air defenses. They can't shoot down the US radar planes. So they simply have to take loses or avoid putting planes in the sky. Without air support, the Russian ground forces can't advance as easily.

Question for someone who knows, why don't the Russians jam the US radar planes??

>strongly PRO WAR
??

Radar jammers are just loud radars. Their entire purpose is to be such a strong signal that no other signal gets through. No doubt the Russians are using every means available, but if you use a radar jammer, your radar jammer becomes the only target visible to whoever's watching, so it's supremely easy to then just shoot a fucking missile at them.

it is, is that surprising? has there been a single pro-ukrainian or anti-war protest in Crimea? There were plenty of those protests elsewhere in Russia or in Kherson.

I'd expect them to have big ground based jamming systems that can just blast radar planes with noise. Safeish from attack.

Unless that kind of EW is considered equivalent to actually shooting with lethal weapons, and Russia is trying to avoid escalation.

>Russians
>Jam the US radar planes.
Hahahahaha.
Russian can't even jam Bayraktars.
Their comms are fucking unencrypted radios because their encrypted "Era" transmitters don't actually work.
They blew up a bunch of Ukrainian 3G/4G towers before realizing they actually need them for their own comms.

>what is a Hind

What the fuck are you talking about you autist?

Yeah, sure, ruskies are utterly useless, everyone can see that. At the same time... they still have those nukes... and out of thousands of them, surely one or two will work as expected.

Why are they so insistent of "no fly zone" then? They keep talking about it ALL THE FUCKING TIME! They aren't asking for more Javelins. They're asking for planes and "no fly zone". Clearly they're fucked in the air.

ukraine warfare becomes so much easier when the skies are closed. especially since they are outnumbered. constant small attacks can ruin the opposition when there's nothing to back you up in the air.

Woah!
They want to implement something that would be an instant win???!!!
They must be fucking losing!!

These kind of systems are on some tanks but not Russian ones.

why an austrian would shill for russian aggression is completely beyond me. you have nothing to gain from it, they literally bully and threaten us with freezing, starvation, killing us, worse than they did back in the cold war and what is your reaction? you suck their cock. wtf.

It'll be instant WWIII, that's all it'll be.
