Are rappers really as wealthy as publicized?

I don’t understand how so many rappers are so freaking rich?
>no album sales: dead format
>Spotify pays jack shit
>very few have big arena tours like Rolling Stones or bands of bygone era

How are they generating this wealth? Pic related “worth” $200 million. From mixtapes given away on SoundCloud? Do Jewish banisters pay them to subvert the people?

power isnt just about what you have, its about what people think you have

it's all fake, because their jew overlords can take it away at any time

Ok name any rapper and search “net worth” example: wacka flocka is worth 7 million. How is this possible?

That’s photoshopped. Drake got where he’s at today by being a fucking pedo and having dirt on other pedos. Fucker was texting a 14 year old telling her he misses her, when it’s all said and done he’ll get the Cosby treatment.

i dont know much about that level of the music industry but its possibly determined by the value of their catalogue royalties and/or the value of their record contracts

He's a very popular rapper. Makes sense for him to have a 7 million dollar net worth. Most rappers make their money through concert tickets and merchandise.

Fashion deals. Kanyes weslth is 95% from Adidas deal.

you know, on top of any personal wealth, advances from the label, their share of profits etc

>Ok name any rapper and search “net worth” example: wacka flocka is worth 7 million. How is this possible?

because it was written on the internet. so it must be factual.

one of my fondest wishes
is to see rappers file for bankruptcy
list includes jay z, migos, gucci mane, lil wayne
& your half jew half nigger chimera, drake

>How are they generating this wealth?

It's all fake. Those people are groomed to be "famous" and no talent or success is needed. They are propped up by "charity" to spread propaganda.

This is quality Aussie bait, I must admit

While streaming doesn't pay as much as physical album sales it's still a fuck ton of money. If you have hundreds of millions of people listening to your music for 10 cents each it still adds up.

You're seriously underestimating the money made on tours though. You don't need to play arenas to make a lot of money touring. It's essentially you walking into a room where thousands of people hand you $20 for 90 minutes of your time.

You completely left merch out of the equation too which is arguably the number 1 revenue generator for musicians. Most are seriously underserving their audience but the ones who take full advantage end up making more money from T-Shirt sales than music. It's ironic you used Drake as your example and said he couldn't possibly be worth $200 million. He has a clothing line that does $50 million in sales yearly.

you guys are fucking dumb.
20k for a concert times 20 or 40 concerts a year (some of these guys hustle, and perform every weekend), $50k to promote some shitty alcohol, $25k for the shoes you wear. renew your sponsorships every year. another $50k from royalties. meanwhile people are throwing "investment opportunities" at you and some of them are just scams but some of them let you put your face on some dumb product and make another 6 figures a year.
put it in retirements accounts and boom, a few million after 10 years easy.
wockaflocka is 35 and has been performing professionally for 14 years. being worth only $7 million is kind of fucking pathetic.
Chamillionaire got involved in shoes and ridesharing apps and he's worth $50 million at 42 years old.
it's not that crazy. jay-z being worth $1.4 billion now that's fucking crazy. connections and hard work. investing in his own businesses.

Most tours are money pits. The cost of set pieces and unless you get over 10K people a night and charge $80-$100 you barely cover enough money to get the crew and set to the next town. T. Ex roadie

Album, concert ticket, and merchandise sales.

>Album sales
Ok boomer

drug dealing and money laundering you fucking noobs

They and their worthless destructive filth are artificially propped up with more printed fiat money. It's not about profit, it's about doing damage to civilization.

>comparing this bitch to someone who's been in with the record labels for 14 years
you are so fucking retarded user, you just made everyone in this thread 10 IQ points dumber simply by digital proximity

Many rappers became so to launder drug money. Those are the OGs.
The ones that are "clean" make money off concerts, royalty deals, sponsorships...
According to a few rappers, you can't make it too far if your only business is music. If you want to be rich you have to either be a gangsta or make a deal with (((them))).

They owe a lot of people money. And investment in them is based on their brand equity. For example, if a company is worth $100, no one would invest $100000. But if the company is worth $100000, investors would be likely to put in $10. So now Drake's brand is worth $100000 + $10. But remember: the investor has a contract with Drake. It says the investor will receive a certain amount back on their money. (For example, 1% of everything Drake makes for 3 years.) Whether Drake is able to pay back all debts and make a profit, depends on his ability to put together a good product. Drake is a best case scenario. He's like a lottery winner. Everyone hopes for his success, but 99.9%, no matter what they do, will never achieve it. And that's the point. More than selling shoes, Drake sells the idea that hard work means wealth. The costs of patents, and litigation, and interest, and rent, and taxes, prohibits most business owners from wealth. And it explains why owning a business in this day and age is actually a shitshow. But that's a different conversation. It can be summarized by "late stage capitalism."

>Tl;dr
There's a better chance of winning the lottery than being Drake-rich in anything

the royalty contract can be legitimately lucrative, though. high profile musicians are a commodified cult of personality that record labels will gamble on. there can be millions in the publication rights alone and most of it comes from other agents paying for the right to use it to sell something else, rather than physical or even digital sales. a high profile musicians with a good agent who knows how to play the game can see extremely large amounts of money come through on exclusive rights to use a hit piece of music and rights over the next part of that musician's career.

at least thats how it used to work, in 20 years all music will be written by computers anyway so it doesnt matter really
