A couple months ago I was under a lot of stress and so I fedposted on POL to blow off some steam and trigger the trannies that are raiding the websites. Talking about doing bad things to Jews in minecraft mostly.
Well today two FBI agents showed up at my door to "investigate a threat". I insisted that what I posted was creative fiction, and was intended to blow off steam and upset people, not actual plans that I was intending to follow through with. They seemed to be satisfied by that and left after asking me for my social media accounts. They even admitted that posting what I did is not illegal, but that they had to investigate it anyway.
How fucked am I? They said that they now have me on file, and that if I ever get in trouble with the police they will be able to view my file. Apparently they contacted my employer as well, they claimed that they didn't reveal anything specific, but now I need to come up with some story for my boss about why the FBI would contact them about me.
I'm worried that they will use it to blackmail me or show it to future employers. I'm also worried that I might not be able to buy firearms in the future. I never broke the law and yet FBI agents can still come to my door? WTF? Shit is way worse than I thought in the US. What should I do?
It is but they will track you through your IP address. Why do you think VPN is banned on this site? I just assumed that as long as you weren't breaking the law they couldn't do anything.

Note for non-larping anons: there is no reason to ever talk to law enforcement without an attorney present. And if they don't have a warrant on you, you can just ignore them. It's not illegal to ignore knocks on the front door. If a cop's arresting you, all you have to give them is your name and DOB. Otherwise, the best thing you can do to help yourself is to not help with the investigation.

Anything that doesn't leave your computer fully encrypted with the public/shared key of the intended reader is absolutely being logged and analyzed and most often can be traced back to you with some minimal amount of work. But I fedpost all the time and no one has come after me.
