We have affirmative action x100, something like 40-50% of the seats at the top universities are reserved. There's also reservations in government services, and elections are almost always decided by certain demographic groups voting as a monolith (Muslims and Dalits). This doesn't tell you the whole story, however. Since we believe in cyclical time and life, there's hardly a push for 'progress' and advancement.
