Truck brakes are much different from vehicle brakes. Truck brakes are basically always on. Air pressure pulls the brake off. So if you have no air pressure you cant release the brakes.

That said, its not a deal breaker. You can separate the truck from the trailer and haul them even if they are locked up... its just a giant pain in the ass.

If the truck is on the frame though, that is going to destroy pavement if you can even get it up on a lowboy trailer. Unless you are running around jacking them up and throwing on a set of loaner rims.

to "lock" the brakes, you have to remove the air lines. By default, those brake's resting position is fully deployed. It takes the air supply to push the brake pads from the wheel.

The method that is referring to is to loosen the brake so that it can be towed, etc. But because of that, once it's turned, the brakes no longer function if you actually need them to work, until you move the bolt back to it's normal position
