The death of western culture looms on the horizon

Soon the only thing people will associate LOTR with is a cash grab cgi fest and a pozzed tv show. It isn't right, our cultural heritage shouldn't be dragged through the mud like this. Why does no one care about legacy anymore? It's a sad and cold world we live in and if Tolkien was around he would be embarrassed of what his people have become.

I feel bad for you zoomers, you have no idea what it used to be like. I literally waited 5 hours to download the trailer of the fellowship of the ring off dial up, watching that little bar move one millimeter at a time. And I thought it was space age technology. When Boromir gasped his last breath begging Aragorn to save his people there was not a dry eye in the theatre. Women openly sobbed, men beat their chests and stomped the ground vowing to stand their ground no matter the cost. When Gandalf rose over that hill at the battle of Helms Deep you could feel the entire building shaking with the roar of the entire audience. I saw people fainting all around me, it was a transcendent experience.

All civilizations come to an end. You unironically can't do anything to save Western culture. What you can do is decide what you want to come next and work relentlessly for that.

Our? Do you own Tolkien's estate?

>Our?
ywnbw

Oh so you are just trying to spread culture war propaganda? See ya then.

I remember seeing return of the king in theaters as a kid and I was bored as fuck lol why do men obsess over this shitty movie

Back to netflix you go mutt no one will miss you.

Western Culture was never monolithic. Hollywood was pretty monolithic for a while, so it is an easy mistake to make. Read more books.

absolute retard

>Western culture is some stupid movies for teenagers about wizards and monsters.

Ok.

I read more books from age 10-16 than you will read in two lifetimes.

holy fucking kill yourself amerishart trog

You can still watch the movies and read the books just fine.

All these seething replies because you have nothing that compares to western historical classics. LOTR really was the last great epic and the new generation is endlessly coping because they can't create something even close to its level.

whoa dude you read the whole eragon series?!

>LOTR
>cultural heritage
>response with Vikang reaction pic
Yup, it's American hours.

Stories have been retold since the dawn of time, this isn't a recent phenomenon

Literally was written several generations ago, so this shit is just retarded. I forgot Tolkien represented all literary works in the last 100 years.

that first teaser released showing some behind the scenes stuff was so good

Oh ya, can you show me the Iliad remake that featured Achilles adopted brother julius kang?
How about Odysseus coming home to find his wife getting gangbanged by a group of black slaves? I must have forgotten about all those diverse remakes. I'm sure netflix will educate me soon enough about the true history of the west.

Imagine if someone wrote a book you didn't like, would you react the same way? Does it only matter to you because its more marketed?

You're fucking faggots, how many times do you think Shakespeare has been retold, re-adapted and reimagined? How close is the original written Beowulf text to the even older oral stories passed around old Germanic tribes?
people just enjoy retelling these stories and you can take or leave whichever itterations you want to.
Retellings have always happened and always will

When are we going to reimagine wakanda with more diverse white representation? Why does the retelling only go one way?
