Alt rock has little to no life in it and jazz fusion commonly has exciting and adventurous musicianship.
When you listen to alternative rock it's mostly just a rehash of stuff done ~30 years ago that not even the musician is new too or shows any real mastery of. The song writing is also toothless and afraid to expand or explore so a lot of alt rock has no forward progression or any progression at all .
