Really sums up EJ. On top of the articulate shred stuff, he can play fingerpicking very well, jazz influenced stuff, country, and pop. I think that's why he's less appreciated now than during the 80s-90s, because audiences are baffled when someone doesn't just stick to one rigid sound. I can't think of another guitar player like EJ who can do it all, and spent the time learning it all equally well.

His pedalboard wasn't working at that show. How can you be this new?

Holy shit

I'm referring to the performance you mistakingly embedded from austin texas that's also in the OP, his bluesy/melodic playing is jarring and they feel like segues to the next legato shreddy bit and it feels off to me
not hating, he is obviously one of the most accomplished guitarists in history but I've been recommended that performance a few times over the years on youtube because i'm a guitarfag myself and he looks like he's stuck in legato hell, like a mindset of sorts

it actually made it better

Great guitarist obviously, but he has a nice voice that worked really well on the poppier AOR stuff he did in the '80s.

in what way was it not working?
