Moreover, the rate of recidivism among sex offenders is already statistically low compared to other types of crimes, with offenders taking part in rehabilitation programs upon release which, in many cases, include management of sexual urges via safe or non-exploitative outlets (such as the use of creative writing and group therapy) while also helping them accept themselves while remaining offense-free.
Chemical castration also increases the risk of prostate cancer and other health complications, and should only be offered to those extremely high risk offenders on a strictly voluntary basis.

Idk but for me the choice would be easy and obvious, wouldn’t even be a question or debate. If I were a pedo I’d probably seek a voluntary castration prior to commiting a crime to show society my good intentions and will to be a good citizen.

It literally does, though. First time offenders are offered it as an option, while recidivist offenders must undergo it if they're to request pre-release or suspension of their sentence, and that's the farthest it ought to go.

It's not, though, and statistics on the matter fail to support that conclusion, given the fact that the risk is still high. Post-release therapy is a far more effective option that does not infringe upon the patient's rights, nor risk infringing more rights.
Sexual compulsions aren't the sole cause of sexual offenses, rather, they are those of a violent/aggressive nature (personality traits, antisocial behaviors, compulsive aggression, etc). Sex offenders become more violent offenders when the treatment goes awry, hence why therapy is so important. Drugging people is not the answer, in spite of what American and British pharmacutical companies would have the public believe.
