A tree planted this year will take decades to mature to the point of replacing what was cut. Most of those trees will not reach that stage.

The US logging industry harvests 900 million trees and plants almost 2.5 billion. Three tiny seedlings do not replace a giant ass tree that's been growing for decades.

Also, this is not strictly a US problem. Seems like you aren't aware but there are trees in other countries, dumbass. And even on a small scale, deforestation in Mexico directly affects our ecosystems (shit does in fact run north, and not just illegal immigrants).
