There's a growing group of people with severe severe social development disorders who are in desperate need of firm boundaries and structure. They're not getting that, so they attach themselves to various identity groups and become activists in order to try to establish a socio-moral framework in which they can indulge their evolutionary need to participate in a social hierarchy and feel like a "good" member of a coherent group with morally acceptable aims. This is why real trans people are quiet and private, and try to pass as the opposite gender, whereas the neurotic mob spends all their time being obnoxiously offensive to everyone and engaging in endless theological purity testing.

You can tell the difference because a trans-activist identifies as trans, but a trans woman identifies as a woman, etc.

Society went bad and identifying with it doesn't feel moral anymore, so they're trying to get that feeling by other means. The problem is that the behavior is subconscious, so they're only following dopamine hits and generally making everything they touch significantly worse.
