On recommendations. Both versions of Full Metal Alchemist, both had good and weak points. Graveyard of the fireflies, her voice was too whiny to get into the melancholy of the plot And as a child Speed racer which was I think the introduction of anime style to the US. I liked it because of violence but even as a child I wondered who'd want to be a race car driver if the survival rate was so low (this was before I saw real car racing, all they're doing is driving in circles why aren't they crashing into each other and using weird devices to damage each other's cars?)

Any good recommendations for adult oriented (ie plot) anime that doesn't go too heavy on the squeeky voices and "reaction" sequences. I've been told Cowboy Beebop and Van Halsieng
