This is wrong, I know a lot of people that stay in for entire careers, 10, 20, even 30 years before retiring. Not just officers either. Not every job in the military is shoot gun and get injured. Most military trades mimic those civie side except you wear the flag and uniform. Obviously theres your combat trades, but even then I know infantry WOs, MWOs and CWOs with decades in.
