If you are looking for my actual opinion and not just stirring controversy, I woukd say that it's not a matter of "I didn't go to college like those darned fancy liberals", it's the fact that this bailout rewards bad decisions by impressionable morons who are just barely smart enough to get accepted by predatory university #40 but stupid enough to actually go with no scholarships or plans. They take massive loans from big daddy government and Mr. Bankstein, only to find out that working as unskilled labor in the public service sector with a liberal arts degree doesn't quite pay off the 2nd mortgage you took out (without even getting a house out of it). Until student loans are able to be defaulted on, banks have no incentive not to give out massive loans for low value degrees (with low/no return on investment) because they are literally unable to fail. Fuck paying off debt with no regulation changes, that's just throwing taxpayer money at institutions that already prey on the public and subsist on grants, bailouts, and shady practices.
The kind of moron who gets 200k in debt with no ability to pay it back simply because "its just what you have to do bro because you're just so smart and you need to do it to get ahead of all the other people doing the exact same thing" will never learn, hit the real problem in the wallet and make student debt like all other debt (after 5 years so its impactful without being life destroying).
So if I'm a liberal who paid my own way thru medical school, I should get money from the government to repay what I spent on my degree?
