There's a lot of pretty dark anime out there. A lot of it is pretty hit and miss.
My favorite manga
That fight where the chick gets her hands cut off blew my mind as a kid. Never thought an anime would actually let a villain take advantage of a hero after they dropped out of their transformation.
Also I second this. Re-L makes my dick hard.
Claymore was the first anime I watched after losing my mind at 19. I need to rewatch it. I honestly forgot that scene. Even though I'm better now to a large degree, dark anime is what got me through the worst parts of my life.

Rage quit when the twins 1 & 2 get rekt. Love those characters!
I have to agree with this. I usually watch moe anime with cute girls doing cute things, but recently I was "forced" to watch this with the online weekly anime watching group I belong to. It's so fucking slow in the first half but I was quickly hooked by the second half. The theme of transhumanism is very powerful. I didn't like it in the end (I gave it a 2/10), but God damn was it a good experience. I think everyone should watch it to the end at least once.
Uncle in another world is a good dark anime...
