When I was a kid my dad wanted one of these for his birthday. But the clerk at the shop convinced her to buy a Gerber instead. He was so disappointed the next day he went out and bought a Leatherman

Muh dick

the gerber you can open one handed.

So it's a better tool for amputees?

Multi tools are lame in general. You probably watch home shopping network and buy everything.

go shit on your retarded balls.

go home and get your fuckin’ toolbox.

Garfield two words

I've had a few multi tools in my life and only ever used them to open cans/put together furniture/or tighten a loose door knob. They're useful in a pinch and that's about it

They are great for camping or on the road when you don't have your 40lb toolbox with you

Probably a stick, or a rock. Every time I've needed this thing to come through, it didn't.

That is more to do with your lack of man skills than the tool though isn't it

A decent hatchet. Seriously, multi tools are garbage in almost every situation where they are your only option. Jack of all Trades, Master of None and all.

gerber?

Naw, it's just never "proper" enough. The screwdrivers are shitty, The pliers is okay for tying your boots but you can never get enough leverage for real jobs, the knives are okay I guess. Everything's just meh, especially for the price.

When you consider its role as an emergency substitution for $200 worth of specialist tools, it does each of them pretty decently tbh. Especially when you don't want $200 worth of tools on a weekend camping trip

I concur, the Gerber version was amazing when I got it going to College back in 2002. I used it for about 10 years and the blade was still sharp. I lost it.
I recently tried to buy a Chinese knock off of the same Gerber model on eBay. It isn't even close to the smooth transitions that the Gerber had.
Maybe I should soak it in WD-40.

I just put together a pretty epic custom tool roll for my motorcycle for about 100 bucks. If I was glamping I would make another one of those. If I was hiking/camping I would pick the multitool.
