in our country that is the only way, we have engineers and officers specialisations
one year theoreticall and practical education in the academy and off you go for your first embarkation as cadet
at least that is the only way for my east euro country, i hear in the west europe its more fluid and you can become caded from other univesities as well but i wouldnt do it, having to learn the job only by experience will be a lot harder
