Let's talk monitors. I want to hear what sort of screens you guys have and how you run them. The crazier the better.

Right now I have a single LG 1440p 144hz screen but looking to change things up and I'd like some inspiration.

I have had the AW3423DW since April and it's pretty great. I'm hoping to get a 27inch 4k 240hz oled panel when they are a thing in the next couple of years.

how do you like it? like, the ultrawide and curved aspects?

my 43" 4k 144hz acer makes it so I can have any display I want. ultrawide plebs tremble before me

The curve isn't a big deal with how close I sit to my screen usually and as far as ultrawide it's super nice for multi-tasking and when I'm playing shooters I just switch to 16:9.

4k lg ultrafine -> mac mini. 5k apple studio would be nice, mostly for the built in web cam and better speakers, but 2018 mac mini won't power it well.

theres only two tiers and a very few realistic choice of monitors
best monitor for esports: 360hz/390hz IPS or 2546k 240hz tn 24-25" monitors
best monitor for everything else: C2 OLED 42" 120hz
cuck zone/budget/doing stupid shit for no reason: 1440p/ultrawides/everything else

360Hz+ really better and faster than CR for cybersport/FPS?

a 60hz crt is still better

24 curved samsungodyseey, 144hz but run it on120hz

4:3 ftw (because i'm an oldfag, that's why)
2xDell 2007fp (1600x1200), costs pennies and one of the best 4:3 monitors out there

>CR
CR? CRT?
first problem is they dont exist
yeah surely people will play on 60hz crt rather than say a 240hz strobed or non strobed lcd

>yeah surely people will play on 60hz crt rather than say a 240hz strobed or non strobed lcd
why would they? good crts are pretty rare now and well it's not worth it
they will rather play on garbage tier fast tn panels

S3422DWG
I like it. Its good for dev work as a solo monitor. Gaming is kind of lame, maybe I'm not calibrating the FOV right or something but games like red dead I just have heaps of real estate for fucking grass.

Dell MR2416 1920*1200@60hz : last high end glossy monitor that's not apple or eve. 115% srgb coverage. Absolutely terrible motion clarity though. Response time is something like 80ms for fofo. Primary display for all tasks (cad, lightroom, ms office, and any slow paced games) sadly the IPS glow on this monitor is terrible and incapable of displaying anything resembling black.

Micron 700mx crt Trinitron running 1440*1080 @75hz - color consistency check especially for darker images where the ips glow of the Dell crushes details. I also use it to play some more fast paced games (dirt rally, ballisticNG) and for games that only support 4:3 ( basically most of my 90s and early oughts games)

For those who use macos, is a 1440p monitor usable? Because people on leddit says that it's torturous and you should always opt for 4K. Is this really the case? I have an M1 air with only 8gb of ram so I'm worried about ram usage to drive the millions of pixels

I got myself a Gigabyte M32Q a few months ago. It replaced an old dual 24" monitor setup. No regrets.

LG C2 42" 120hz
You get used to the size really quickly and now my previous 34 inch ultrawide feels tiny in comparison.

You brought this upon yourself.

Eizo S2433W as a primary monitor. Good old 16:10 1920x1200p CCFL S-PVA.
Secondary is just some cheap Samsung S24F350. I think I want to mount the Samsung above the Eizo, to clear up some desk space. In picture it's off to the right.
And then there's the CRTs. I use either NEC F1250 or Sony GDM-F520 for games, and only games. Usually the CRTs stay off and I daily the LCDs.
The resolution I use the most on the NEC is 1280x960i 200hz. I use the Sony less, I want to save it (it's worth a ridiculous sum of money ...), but it can do anything from 1024x768p160hz to 2048x1536 i170hz/p85hz.

Its all good

>17" HP L1710
>24" asus vg248
>27" viotek something or other
>27" asus VG27B (primary)
I'm kind of mixed on the two 27"es. The viotek has damage that they refuse to cover under warranty, and has shittier HDR, but has better colors. Plus, it ghosts. The Asus looks fine in most things, but once a game or video is pulled up, there's color banding out the ass on some things, blacks in highly compressed videos can come out as purple, etc. I can only guess it's got something to do how they handle the overclock for 165Hz or something, and that it's not a $500+ monitor because lmao I'm not paying that much. I'll stick with it, because it doesn't ghost unless it's displaying something that ghosts regardless of display (some indie gamemaker shit, TAA in general) but man, we're way overdue for 144hz+ 1440p+ HDR monitors being much higher quality for the current or lower price range, and 4k+ shit being the premium tier.
