You should do exactly like you said. Ignore it because he has the right to express his opinion without fear of persecution, just as you do. If you want your opinion to be known, get a black empowerment flag.

You could write a anonymous note explaining the history of said flag and what offends you about it. Perhaps requesting a note in response as to their reasoning for displaying the flag and what it means to them.

You think so? I thought perhaps if OP could be heard and made it known they also respect the neighbors interpretation of the flags symbolism perhaps a solution could be agreed to.
