Typical Any Forums poster

I bought a T460 to take to work so I can shitpost without outting myself to IT using my work PC. Hoping it's solid I never had a Thinkpad before just some bad experiences with Dell laptops that made me a hater for life.

If Thinkpads are supposedly getting more popular then why do threads get archived before the bump limit more often than they used to?

addressing the elephant in the living room

isn't it amazing how a 20 yo laptop has a better screen with no downsides and a 5 yo stink pad has an absolute dogshit of a display that outright unusable

Stop talking out of your ass. 20-year old laptops all used CCFL screens that turn to piss yellow nowadays. If you can find one that is still working, that is. And good CCFL screens were also put in select Thinkpads like A30p. 5-year old Thinkpad would be something like a X260 or T460, both of which can come with 1080p IPS screens with good contrast and brightness that age much better because they use LED backlights. Color coverage is quite poor, but still much better than TN shit. And you have P50 for professional color work anyway.

damn female kid.. can't even do subtraction... needs correction...

i found two and can find many more
all of them look fine and i can look at them unlike the dogshit new stinkpad that i can't even look at

In fact this general should be banned as a troll thread.

I currently have a t420 with 2x4GB of RAM and an i5 2560M.
How much it would cost me go upgrade the screen to 1920x1080 IPS, i7 CPU and 16GB of RAM.
Do you think it's worth it or should I just buy a new model?

Photos or it didn't happen.

not going to your CP honeypot, glowfriend

I own a T14 Gen 2 from work. Opened it up and found a WWAN slot. I'm thinking of putting an NVME drive in it and dual booting Manjaro alongside Win10. Would it be possible?

I'm eyeing an Dell Latitude E5400 in mint condition. How does it compare to T410, is the screen equally bad?

It's a Dell so there's a good chance that the screen is even worse. And I'm pretty sure that model uses Core 2 Duo CPUs. If you're going to buy a Core 2 Duo Latitude, go for E4300. Its very light and portable with 16:10 13,3 screen, slim bezels for its time and 300 nits peak brightness. If the trackpoint ripoff was better, I would easily recommend it over X200.
