Yeah I agree honestly, some parents are controlling enough to where even "in secret" is impossible till you leave, but at the same time they might sabotage you being able to leave, like taking your money to pay off a car in their name, or building some sort of reliance on them from pre 18 that you can't break post 18 too easily. Most people don't deal with that though and usually they just end up that way at 26+ because they're sheltered. at 23-26 if you're still under the same controlling parents you're doing something wrong and have some maturity issues or other issues
