learn C first user. C++ biggest power requires you to understand the underlying concepts. or use rust, that way you learn a new language with better memory safety features but still get a similar experience in terms of thinking about management.

I doubt he is ever going to use assembly, but I actually second this motion.
Learn assembly so you know how your computer actually works. Then pick up C and enjoy the great QoL improvements over assembly, while keeping the thought process basically the same. Then you may learn C++ for all the productivity features.
