Abandoned by the developers and left to die. Prime example what happens to multiplayer only games when they stop making money. Matchmaking is ruined by bots and private servers are constantly ddosed or unbalanced and filled with players so good you have no chance to enjoy yourself if you're an average player.
The ability to customize your loadout is unique and fun and pretty much only found elsewhere in RPG's and is perhaps the most interesting part about TF2, but because the developers left the game the dream of what coule have been when it comes to fine tuning is dead. Most of the current items are pretty uninspiring however, with most being basic

Hackers are a bitch to deal with cause only the team with the hackers can start and vote on the kick and usually they don’t cause they like getting carried
Overall though it’s a great game that runs on pretty much anything I play it on my work laptop from time to time with no problems

The game is nothing like it was 15 years ago. 15 years ago the main gamemode was capture the flag and the classes' loadouts were set in stone.
Even the graphics and animations were different.
Throughout the updates the game benefited from customizing your loadouts and different players finding their sweet spot in what the classes played best like for them.
A quick fix medic is great for healing your whole team quickly and pushing forward, were a vaccinator heavy is great against pyro spamling etc.
Tactical loadouting like that was impossible 15 years ago, the choice wasn't even there.
That became the main push for each update, besides cosmetics. And it proved to be more fun for most players to have diablo like options in a competitive fps. But it just stopped before it could really become the kind of abundance that the developers had in plan for the game. There's so much potential in what tf2 became that is just halted forever.
