It stopped being strong when Skylake released but if you just use it to playback tranny porn then sure it's overkill even

The 2700k is, that meme on the other hand died like 5 years ago. Enjoy your stuttering.

>4 core CPU stopped being strong when new 4 core CPU released
Boring. It stopped being strong when Zen released.

I have the chad version of the 2500k which is the e5-1680v2 with double the cores and threads and more than 3x the L3cache. Kind of overkill to be honest, it never maxes out when gayming. I guess it's even more future proof than 2500k though and its nice to post it in spec threads.. Plus the massive amount of PCIE lanes gives me lots of nvme storage at full speeds + gpu at full speed + wifi cards at full speed (which would have by now crippled a consoomer tier mobo and forced the gpu to run at 8x, and also run out of slots)

Refunded.
These things suck nowadays.
Not worth saving $100.

I grabbed an i7-2600 for 30€ off ebay for a junk Dell Optiplex i had lying around. It feels suspiciously modern for a 10 year old CPU, like i can't feel any difference unless i explicitly benchmark it with something like Blender... Have we really not progressed that much in the past decade? I remember when your PC getting past 4 years old meant it was doomed and completely unusable.

consoles had bulldozer tier cores at laptop clocks, they were a joke

Everything old is irrelevant after the 12100F.

swapped 2500K to 6600K in 2015 because I was still a gaymer and 2500K was a stuttering mess in certain regions in TW3 and 6600K was chill.

also this

Still coping strong...

i have one of these in my junk drawer. Todays Celerons destroy it

Are you sure? The 2500K overclocks very high and has two more cores.

Your 2500K is the modern equivalent of a Bulldozer CPU. It doesn't matter if it overclocks to 5 GHz and has a million cores, the IPC is just too bad.

sounds like cope from someone who wasted money

Sounds like objective reality. The 2500K would need to run at 6+ GHz to match a Celeron G6900 in single thread. It might be able to beat it slightly in multi thread, because of the higher core count.

and thankfully you can easily overclock the 2500k well in advance of 6 GHZ

Sounds like cope from someone without a job.
