I was interviewing to get a new job and cleared the interviews and was getting ready for an offer, but the company just announced a freeze on hiring for two weeks.

So now I'm waiting for two weeks to see if I can join or not.

not really satisfied with my job. feel like i should switch jobs to something more in line with my degree, but would probably have to take a pay cut.

i am also worried about my parents getting old. i live far away from them and I wouldn't be able to care for them from where I am at. I wish I could offer them a home.

I'm also worried that i won't be able to provide for my wife and family. We live in a small home, save the recommended amount for retirement, but i have trouble giving in and getting a huge mortgage. i don't want to work till I die. I look forward to the day where I don't have to work anymore.

all first world problems. it sucks cause as soon as it seemed like I was getting ahead in the rat race with a high salary, housing prices went through the roof and my entire savings really meant nothing.

I feel the job stagnation. Your degree is a piece of paper, not who you are. It MAY make you more money but there's nothing intrinsic to your happiness.

Your parents are adults and should have prepared themselves to be self-sufficient, is the hard-ass answer. I'd personally be ashamed to have my children care for me when they have the rest of the world ahead of them to focus on.

Your 3rd point related to your first; happiness in working for others. Do you need a ton of money to make your lifestyle work? Is your spouse a diva? Are your kids spoiled? Have you been a man and controlled your finances properly?

Without interference, you could live your life on an acre of God's Earth. How are you removing those obstacles (legally)? 1st world mentality insinuates thqat you're comfortable enough to whine about trivialities. Embrace the knowledge that you're that much more privileged and become a leader of others.

My problem is inflation is 9.1%, the FED raising interest rates 0.75% to 1%, and mortgage rates increasing as well. Yet house prices still rise and I can't find a home.

I need a house, but the economy is all over the place fucking me in the ass.

No user, don't say that. The recruiter said this could be a "small blip" to reassess open positions. Don't ruin my fantasy with logic and reason.

Worst part of this is that I could have taken an offer two weeks ago, but was told I could try for a higher position so I did an additional round of interviews. Now I'm sitting here waiting for news like a dick head.

Who the fuck OWES you a mortgage at a decent rate? Are there laws from your government stating that you should be given handouts? Save up your money and build a house or buy one at market value and stop relying on banks.

Or, change your juvenile perception, stop following "news", and focus on goals. Experience tells if you ignore what "the world" is always trying to warn you about and focus on being responsible and decent to others, you'll be happy. Why do you need name-brand anything? Stop shopping weekly at Walmart/DG and think about what you actually buy.
