I saw no general for this topic, so making one now. Hope the original person who usually makes these doesn't mind. >what is 'Dead Internet Theory' It is the hypothesis, or rather, fact, that the internet as we know it today, is but a shell of its former self. What is supposed to be a decentralized network of computers communicating using common protocols and in turn allow for freedom speech and freedom to share information, has turned into a centralized, bloated mess.
A handful of websites hold most of the users, whom are made unable to express anything beyond the extremely strict guidelines which they have to adhere. Search engines are gradually getting worse and worse at finding information, and the information you do find is often ridden with ads and popups. And if not that, entirely useless in of itself and likely AI-generated.
/ditg/ serves to spread avareness of this issue, be a place for anons to get together and discuss it, and actively find ways to combat the issue. You are also strongly encouraged to visit the IRC and Matrix rooms to discuss there. Other, independently run chans and forums are also favored.
The end goal here is to create a network of communities which don't rely on big corpo to exist. Optimally, you'd have one central place to be presented a list of independently run sites and platforms to join, and/or find out about them by already being part of one of these communities.
I thought DIT was about botnet replacing (almost)all humans online?
Samuel Jackson
it would be great if we could set up a forum or IB on a tor hidden service and discuss actual Any Forums shit like DIT there. this board is too fast and spammy to have something as autistic as this not get slid yes, originally, it was. goalposts moved, topic broadened. its now about whining about normalfags, trannies and FAGMAN ruining everything
Benjamin Collins
>yes, originally, it was. goalposts moved, topic broadened. its now about whining about normalfags, trannies and FAGMAN ruining everything Couldn't have said it better.
posting some infographics. I think it's just because the rapid consumerization of the internet from normalfags and FAGMAN. I think if the internet speed existed back then and services like netflix, amazon, and social media existed normalfags would have flocked to them much sooner regardless of how many niche sites there were back then.
>DNS was a significant part of web traffic in 1990

Ever talk to a normalfag about browsers they use? I have done it a couple times and to me it sounds crazy the reasoning behind their use of google chrome. They never could give me a reason why they use it over something like firefox. I have never had a problem loading a page on firefox.
I 100% believe a lot of users are just computers these days. The weird culture wars and the strange people on twitter that get talked about in the news media just seems planted by the wealthy elite. I just refuse to believe the majority of the population are just retarded nigger cattle. I think I'm experiencing cognitive dissonance.

Have you ever give a fuck about a particular flavour of toothpaste? Or the material used to isolate the walls of your residence as a metric to choose where to live/how to build? Or did you just chose whatever was good enough and was easy to reach at the time. Technology is like that for the average Joe. Just some appliance on his way to do something else. The problem is, FAGMAN figured out that they could exploit that "something else" to their advantage. People shout out about their madurity but the mayority are the same indulgent and impatient brats for the rest of their lives, if you give them an easy path to follow and validate their choice they'll embrace it AND do the unpaid PR work for you by defending your option, because that's easy and doesn't disrupt their objectives while making them part of a group. You can literally charge them for nothing in return, and will still choose to no deviate from it. They're called normalfags for a reason. They thrive to be part of the low effort, approved path over anything, even achieveing something for themselves (the collectve that follows the path IS the "themselves"). There's no way to fix this, unless you do eugenesics then wipe 80% of the population with ALL corporations included and start over.
Robert Jenkins
>"30+ members"
Hudson Garcia
>unless you do eugenesics then wipe 80% of the population with ALL corporations included and start over. you think the top 20% is any less mentally ill? most everyone on this board is above-average intelligence, but are still complete fucking brainwashed retards
Elijah Hill
because they act like bots, they repeat patterns and react the same way to inducement. it's crazy but happens a lot nowadays
Blake Ward
We lost so much data during the porn purge and everyday we keep losing a lot of stuff from the internet. Data hoarders should help preserve the internet.
Liam Williams
The internet is not worth preserving let it all die or at least let it become normalfag e-zoo
Levi Hill
That's where the eugenesic parts goes. You pick the ones with the most boring and uninteresting mental conditions like depression, ADHD, mild schizoids or whatever, easier to mold, instead of the nutjobs like Chris Chan, Any Forums or the average Discord mod.
Samuel Rogers
Let's be honest there's a very noticeable noise to signal ratio there. Some charming or useful original content (like art or technical writing) mixed with a metric tons of low quality e-whoring like porn, forced memes or stupid selfies. All that could die for what i care. Not even their own creators would miss it, implying they have the brain power to renember them.
Brandon Jones
yeah, data hoarders are based, and archive org is probably the most important website of all internet right now. If it dies everything will be gone
James Long
>it would be great if we could set up a forum or IB on a tor hidden service and discuss actual Any Forums shit like DIT there. Sounds like a great idea. But that will be filled with spammers as soon as you post a link here.

>2011: chrome less than 25% market share; firefox more than 25%. >2012: flipped Oh wow. I guess that's the perks of being the browser promoted by the search engine that everyone knows.
