>costs more than a used USFF Dell with SATA and PCI-E
Are people fucking insane?
Costs more than a used USFF Dell with SATA and PCI-E
>Small ting cost more den big ting?
Insane!
The price went up 3 times. It's a scam at this point.
Small PCB, less components, less money to make.
I stole mine. Then I configured it to steal movies and send them through my stolen wifi router to my stolen Nvidia Shield.
Works great.
I've seen people ask $50 for a used Pi 1. Shit's fucked yo
>15 burger pi 0 selling for ~100burgers
kys
I've seen them go for higher on fucking goodwill
artificial scarcity
You're telling me I can sell my dust collectors for more than I bought them for??
only if you get your daily hydration via semen consumption
I bought up all the local Pi stock in my country, selling' em at 150% markup and people are still buying them lmaO
why yes, I hoard piss
See, this is why you are poor. You don't understand the difference between a scam and supply and demand.
I know an asian scam when I see one.
It's an eternal anglo scam
>>costs more than a used
No shit. Still, seems kinda pointless even compared to a new one of those. In a lot of cases I'd rather pay about double to get out of ARM hell.
i guess they are now, i paid US$50.- inc shipping from digikey for 8gb units. Would have been nice if they stayed there and the CM4 was a few bucks cheaper. ~$180-220 in the grey market now i see.
And all these fucking retards believed in a "3 year long chip shortage". Fucking vaxxers, I swear!
Is this solely an American problem? Here in east EU pi 4 costs 50€
*2GB model
whether it's real or orchestrated, the effect on me is the same, so i bought a few extra piss when dram supply was becoming an issue. I knew those buck toothed sassenachs from raspberry would never have the clout to get another batch of those ram chips they used on the 8gb model.
I use them for irrigation controllers and octoprint.
You can get a fairly decent (new) mini pc with a proper BIOS for under $200 which would be better for most things.
it's the 8GB one mainly being scalped
The main issue is that production of these outside of Europe has yet to ramp up.
The foundation is still relying heavily on UK manufacturing which has extremely high efficiency in regards to electronics but doesn't have a lot of bandwidth.
If they want to increase production they need to find other production partners. Which right now isn't easy.
Right now most production is immediately snapped up by commercial clients.
That being said the ones sold in the USA always seem to be at a hefty markup, I've actually helped a few yanks out by buying them over here then shipping them over by post. Availability and price still managing to make it worthwhile.
I think US importers are just engaging in typical yankee doodle price gouging.
I need the 8gb model tho and it costs as much as a used PC. Fuck that.
I bought one at scalper prices recently, but in my defense I need to strap it to a drone so weight is an absolute priority. I'd use a laptop if I could.
Why not get some orange PI knockoff?
Was worried about compatibility, I'm doing SDR stuff with it using an RTL-SDR dongle, that thing is a bitch to get working in the best of times.
Usually because you have a disk image that works, and you don't want to spend hours changing it to work on another board. Some of the clones are quite good though, I even saw one with HDMI *INPUT* and 2xout, some have a PCI lanes exposed, 5x ethernet ports etc.
It will likely work. i got an rtlsdr working on my nokia n900. arm support is pretty good. ADSB stuff?
