estats have good measured bass but the problem is they're incapable of producing impactful bass. so it shows up on measurements but you can't physically hear it.
would consider philphone (open back th900) if you're thinking of blowing money on stax.

The real problem with estats is estat amps. Forget about boosting subbass, they start distorting even at medium listening levels, and this is not an isolated incident either, stax, warwick, koss amps all do that, koss amp in particular will even compress subbass so you get different frequency response at different volume. I'm sure the driver itself could handle it. Also with stax you have awful pads that have no seal so you would get no subbass even if you could.

Below he400se+amp budget I would stick to IEMs. I would stick to IEMs above that budget too but the stuff below has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
IEMs are uncomfortable and transmit way too many microphonics (cable noise)
