Do i pull the trigger on these? I have about 100 to spend but this is a crazy deal
I had an old pair that broke running off an apple dongle dac, no amp, sounded pretty good. So im wondering if theres another can that could sound better just off an apple dac
I'm obsessed with clarity and autistically listening for strange details, but also like subbass. Would STAX with some bass EQ be my final stop?
Juan Brooks
If you like subbass avoid estats like plague.
Adam Robinson
i got the sony xm3 pretty nice. good fit, decent sound for walking.
Justin Martin
this desu estats have good measured bass but the problem is they're incapable of producing impactful bass. so it shows up on measurements but you can't physically hear it. would consider philphone (open back th900) if you're thinking of blowing money on stax.
Caleb Clark
What is the difference between fiio k5 pro and k5 pro ess? Is it worth paying more?
Nathan Sanchez
many dac companies need to switch to ess at the moment because akm chips aren't available other than that same shit
Chase Ward
So is this headphone just schizoposting? Has anybody seen impressions of their closed-back headphone?
The real problem with estats is estat amps. Forget about boosting subbass, they start distorting even at medium listening levels, and this is not an isolated incident either, stax, warwick, koss amps all do that, koss amp in particular will even compress subbass so you get different frequency response at different volume. I'm sure the driver itself could handle it. Also with stax you have awful pads that have no seal so you would get no subbass even if you could.
Juan Reyes
Even Spritzer's amps?
Blake Morgan
Never heard of those. Just play a test tone and see for yourself if you have one available.
Jace Nelson
Mjolnir audio.
Caleb Perez
OP, at that budget, yeah I would just buy those. But my bigger recommendation is to just get a job and buy something better later
Adam Kelly
You sure theres nothing better for like 50 or so?
Noah Jones
Koss Portapros or Ksc75 sounds better, but is not closed back like I assume you want. AKG K361s are good and closed back, but slightly over your budget. I guess you can take your pick out of those
Joshua Davis
are these just rebranded hm5s or something?
William Young
maybe it says in the op maybe it doesn't
Thomas Fisher
yeah, but are they ACTUAL rebranded hm5s or monoprice just got some shells and put on shitty 1 dollar drivers with no proper tuning and garbage pads
Gabriel Davis
Yoga CD-880 is the actual oem version everything else is a rebrand including hm5, there's at least 5-6 more
Matthew Smith
Below he400se+amp budget I would stick to IEMs. I would stick to IEMs above that budget too but the stuff below has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Joshua Nguyen
IEMs are uncomfortable and transmit way too many microphonics (cable noise)
