Vinyl is easy to make and you can literally press them in small batches in your basement.
CRTs required an entire industry's worth of supply chain logistics and highly specialized machinery that has been scrapped and destroyed.
It's much like how people say we can't go to the moon anymore because we lost the knowledge and tooling to make Saturn V class rockets, we literally lost the tooling and knowledge to recreate that tooling to mass produce CRTs or any high energy electron gun vacuum product.
It would be as if you wanted to jumpstart 45nm IC production tomorrow, oh wait.

The theory behind CRTs is sufficiently trivial that it's used as a toy example in physics and engineering classes. But you're right about the supply chain and tooling. The last factory in the world that did CRTs shut down in 2011.

Not gonna happen. Chinks tried. Bought up all the machinery and built a factory and everything but the practical knowledge of construction was lost, I forget which aspect I think something with the details of the tubes or whatever and they couldn't wing it. Maybe it could happen if there were enough people willing to pay a premium for a mediocre new CRT, then they'd trial and error it. But as it stands it doesn't look good.

You seriously believe that no one ever wrote that knowledge down? I agree that recreating the supply chain and all that tooling that probably has long dependency chain would be annoying and take a long time to build, but I wouldn't call it "lost knowledge"
