There is literally nothing wrong with the Nvidia shield, just use that
>tfw long HDMI cable
Ads on homescreen, scoped storage ruined half the device's functionality, constant regressions that kill functionality randomly. Also, no av1 hw decoding so no HDR in youtube.
>have to spend $200 to get acceptable performance on plex
The absolute state of smart tvs. Truly we're on the darkest timeline.
> using ((smart)) tv software

> just buy a new TV then
Stupid goyim. Very-very stupid cattle goyim.
Plex on LG tvs is so shit. Enabling subtitles makes the player shit itself constantly. Is the experience any different on Sony tvs?
tried using kodi?
>I JUST WANT TO WATCH MY ANIME COLLECTION ON MY COUCH
use a laptop
>WITHOUT HAVING TO USE A FUCKING LAPTOP HOLY SHIT TECHNOLOGY SUCKS
use a laptop + hdmi cable
>smart tv

LineageOS runs on the Nvidia Shield.
Stop being retarded.
if you have your tv and pc in the same lan, you can use DLNA. i use jellyfin and only some files need transcoding
>put files on lan share/nas
>tv open anything with mx player
Its not hard, why would you need shit like plex?
nigger just literally connect some shit small facotr pc or even a rpi4 and use kodi with jellyfin plugin what are you doing using shitty smart tv functionality
basically my setup, was way cheaper and actually functions instead of the Amazon Fire TV Stick I had briefly
>apple tv doesn't have jellyfin

Not sure what's the state of it, but worth a shot.
Yeah it's pretty good, my living room tv has kodi on 24/7 with this and it works perfectly except for rare occasions where kodi shits the bed, it's like it's getting worse with each release.
My boomer parents use an amazon firestick. It was like $20 on sale and runs almost everything. It can't do x265 10bit hdr, but I think the highest tier model can.
*for jellyfin
Plex and Jellyfin both shit the bed in different ways and on different devices for me. I'm at the point where I'm almost fed up enough to make something myself that is simple and just works.
Why not just use an Xbox or Gaystation like a normal person
does your laptop not just have an HDMI port, buy a wireless mouse/keyboard combo
