Takes ages to boot (supposedly fixed in 14.0)
Has to boot twice for some reason when I plug in the Ethernet cable

FreeBSD is stuck in the past for ideological reasons like Slackware. OpenBSD is the better bet in 2022.

Insecure and devs don’t give a fuck:

I also have a life, and I don’t want to deal with bugs due to software that was meant to run on Linux was poorly hacked to run on FreeBSD, nor limiting my software availability.

Go back to FreeBSD forums to circlejerk with your peers about this satanic garbage OS, this is the place where you belong.

slow wifi

things that just work are boring, all I want is to get up in the morning with everything broken and having a good time fixing it

IT'S GIANT LEAP NOT GIANT STEP, FUCK YOU FREEBSD

Not believing fake news.

No 802.11ac or even 802.11n drivers.

FreeBSD doesn't work on modern hardware, especially laptops.
It's impossible to buy a new laptop with FreeBSD support.

It's not even supported on Linux laptops like librem, system76, slimbooks, starbooks or tuxedo.

All you can do is to run Freebsd on 10 yrs old chinkpad and even there it performs worse than linux.

I cannot read any of this thread without thinking of le OpenFishe's smug fucking face and going "MMMMMMMMMMMMMM" like Big Les

Cope. I use FreeBSD 13.1 on a modern UEFI desktop PC and have no issues.

ok chud. then recommended a freebsd compatible laptop. if i look on bsd-hardware.info then there is no single piece without a detection error.

btw i like freebsd as a system but the hardware support just casts me away.

Mint just werks.

What fundamental computer science things will I learn if I install it and keep using it

using non-systemd init, and learn where apple took all the code to build the os every baseddev uses in 2022

Yes because you don't need WiFi on a fucking stationary tower

that's right and he doesn't probably even need battery acpi

I was going to install it, but all the drama this week turned me off

Been considering switching over after all the drama w/ Linux this week.
