The US has proved it will never lose territory. Manifest destiny is a slow process. Liberation of imperial colonies are struggling to meet their own fortunes as independents which the US allows after freeing them from subjugation, or if they'd join a larger union which is being overtaken by fascism from clowns in the democratic party. It's really understandable why they'd be reticent. Undeniably we've free'd them to make better decisions than the subjugation they'd face. To a fault the US has not brought it's fist down on the world and imposed itself on it until recently. By the leadership of those that claim to be liberal while being anything other than.
