Here's the truth (and I see so few people talking about it):
There are two sexes, heretofore referred to as Male and Female. We will ignore hermaphrodites not really a 'new' sex, just an amalgamation of the others.

Humans are sexually dimorphic, meaning they have different characteristics that are a result of their sex. They each have their own strengths.

As humans evolved, we formed societies. In these societies certain expectations were made of an individual who was born with "penis" or "vagina". Those with Penis were stronger and needed to do things that leveraged physical strength. Those with Vaginas were the ones who could allow the species to move forward and they took care of the young and where everyone called "home".

Due to biological sex, societal "Gender norms" evolved. To maximize chances of survival, humans used their sexual dimorphic strengths and as we grew as a social species, we reinforced those gender roles that would also contribute to maximizing survival.

Fast forward to today. We still have Males and Females (and those rare with a mix of the two) but thanks to tech, our sexual dimorphism becomes less important. Physical strength isn't as necessary. Females taking care of young can now be handled by males, etc.

There are still two "genders" insomuch as roles that are expected/created by reality. They are blurring a bit, because we now expect different things from each gender.
Gender fluidity is silly. Just be yourself, contribute what you want/can to whatever you want and stop insisting the world adhere to your fantasy. Gender is a societal construct that was born of biology and evolution. Today, Gender roles are less important to survival, so do what you want, just dont' expect the society that was born of sexual dimorphism to embrace this..

If we normalize this for trans people, why not schizophrenics who want to cut off random limbs, or any sort of body dismorphia? Surely to permit people to irreversible mutilate their bodies on a whim is to normalize extreme self-violence which could easily be regretted by the subject.
