Why did you buy it?
Was it a good purchase?

>880K
>I was poor, but it was the high-end of poor people FM2+ platform
>surprisingly yes. Going to keep using this until LunarLake drops.

>Why did you buy it?
Got some gift cards from work and didn't know what else to consoom. I was on an X370 board before and it was never going to get support for Ryzen 5000.
>Was it a good purchase?
Yeah, shit's incredibly fast for the money. I kind of wish I spent a bit extra on a 12700k just to know I have the extra cores but the 12600k is great.

>i5 3470
>had to upgrade from a way too old Core 2 Quad Q9400
>yes by a long mile, the old C2Q was just too old at this point

>Upgraded from old xeon x58 system that i ran for a long time.
>It is good and does everything and then some.

Its efficient and cheaper than a 5800x. and the 5600x is gaming crap with 6 cores.
Actually yes, faster than i expected. very comfy

cos it was good for the price
bought it 2021 i thinks, before c0vid sh*T really scr!w!d the prices of everything.
it was def worth it, best cpu i've had.

should I upgrade? i got it paired with a RX 6900 now, 16 GBS of DDR4 ram. I just game, use VMS and a little programming/blender

>Why did you buy it?
Because my previous CPU (Phenom 940) died literally on the same day R5 was released.
>Was it a good purchase?
It was adequate for the price, and I've never encountered any of the compatibility or firmware issues.

>4790k
got it cheap, still chugging along. probably my best hardware purchase.
im not upgrading any time soon.

>Why did you buy it?
120 eurobux + a motherboard that can fit a 16 core
>Was it a good purchase?
it's alright but I'm going to upgrade it to a 5950X

>Epyc 7301
>Why did you buy it
I wanted a dual-socket system that would not be CPU bottlenecked for the forseeable future.
>was it a good purchase
make -j 63 means I won't be switching from this shit anytime soon. Works fine for the gaming I do to, so I'll probably get another 7 years out of the rig, yeah.

>Why did you buy it?
4690K was giving me stutters on uncapped games and it was the best/bang buck at the time.
>Was it a good purchase?
Hell yeah. It does the job and I'd love to upgrade but I'm on a 4k 120hz tv and can't justify it for my use case. Maybe in a gen or two.

this

>Athlon X4 845
> Why did you buy it?
It was my first time building a computer. I was used to laptops, and wanting to get more hands on experience with the machinery. I ended up buying an old office desktop that had a FM2+ slot, then tried upgrading it from there.
It was a rocky ride: I couldn't use this chip in that box because it had the wrong chipset, so I bought an A8-7600 and some more RAM instead. Then when I tried adding a 50w GPU, the motherboard shorted out. Thankfully none of the components were damaged. So I had to buy a new motherboard, which snowballed in to buying a case, PSU, mechanical keyboard, etc. This time around, I made sure to get the right chipset for the job, and I put the X4 845 to work. I've been slowly upgrading the machine since.

> Was it a good purchase?
All things considered, very much so. It succeeded in its goal as a teaching tool, while also giving me a machine that was far stronger than what I had become used to. While it's not winning any awards on benchmarks, it's been good to me since I've started using it. If I didn't come here or watch Youtube, I would forget that it's supposed to be a low end part.

>Skylake
>Good

doesn't matter if it has thermal paste under under the heat spreader

shidd. did they use thermal paste on the lga1150 xeons?

>Why did you buy it
I had a 10100f but I wanted an iGPU and AVX-512 support for PS3 emulation (MGS4, Demon's Souls) and got it for a good price (105USD)
>Was it a good purchase
at the time yeah definitely. I obviously should've waited for 12th gen but the 6c/12t and AVX-512 definitely come in handy. Don't see any need to upgrade. I already had an NH-U9S so it stays pretty cool.
why do people harp on this so much
I had this a while, it's in my wife's PC now. perfectly capable CPU.

Attached: Intel-Core-i5-11400-NEW-i5-11400-2-6-GHz-Six-Core-Twelve-Thread-CPU-Processor.jpg (800x800, 135.02K)

Bought it with a sign-on bonus from getting a job in FAANG, because it was big, flashy, and had a lot of cores for the time.

It ended up being pretty much worth its exorbitant price. Almost wondering if I'll ever need an upgrade. Everything still runs great on my machine, especially with a modest overclock.
